Soulzouk is a modern form of Brazilian zouk that emerged in the 2000s.

Soulzouk is based on the biomechanics of body movements and also on mutual understanding to have a more organic and natural dance; both dancers of the duo ctively participate in the creation of the dance.

In its early days, Soulzouk was considered a different way of dancing Zouk because it used a tighter embrace and more connection. It appeared to be more fluid, with more sensual movements, and with a richer and varied musicality.

It incorporates many influences from contemporary dance, hip hop, tango, salsa and other dance styles. Many of the techniques and principles developed in Soulzouk were gradually incorporated into the more traditional form of Brazilian Zouk.

It continues to distinguish itself from other methods by emphasizing individual interpretation and improvisation, allowing dancers to express themselves freely, as well as specific forms of leading and techniques that differentiate those who practice it by their subtle, soft and reactive dance.

Soulzouk is both a philosophy for approaching duo dance: more connection, listening, comfort in the execution of movements with at its service a toolbox of techniques to dance better and always have more pleasure through the movements.

It was created by China and Luciana in Rio de Janeiro. China continues to develop it, supported by a team of teachers he has trained. Meet us in the “familly “ section of www.soulzouk.com
